A Country Rose Florist: Our Favorite Tallahassee Venues

A Country Rose Reveals Our Favorite Tallahasse Venues:

Southwood House and Cottages

Placed amid a stunning golf course, The Southwood House and cottages offers you and your guests an extraordinary setting for your special event. Rich in history and originally built in 1865 the Southwood House is newly restored to resemble its original and elegant historical appearance. Southwood Plantation started as a large cotton plantation, owned by George Taliafero Ward. The original mansion built in 1865 was destroyed by fire, but in 1939, George Henderson, grandson of Colonel John and Mattie Henderson, moved their family home from downtown Tallahassee on to the old foundation of the original Southwood house. Nestled among acres of rolling hills, majestic oaks, and native flowering trees, the charming manor is now a perfect wedding backdrop. The Southwood House can accommodate up to a 100 person stand-up cocktail heavy appetizer reception inside the house, but will accept events as large as 250 guests, making it ideal for moderately sized weddings. Cottages on the property are also available for rent by the night for your event. Ideal for wedding party accommodations.

Locally Grown; Our Flower Farm | Farm to Florist | Tallahassee, Florida

We haven't really shared much about our cut flower farm but it is time for that to change! We are honored to be able to provide our customers with many locally grown flowers! The  owner of  A  Country  Rose ,   Annette started farming on an acre at her home in Wakulla County about eight years ago. She has since moved herself and her farm to a new location with more space for growth (pun intended). Annette  and her husband Ed are the ones who make all the magic  happen.  The most current tasks around  the  farm as of the last  couple  of weeks is a reworking of all the beds. They've been pulling up all the irrigation, laying new rows which includes 100's of tractor loads of compost and mulch then re-laying of black ground cover (to keep weeds at bay), white ground cover (to keep the black from burning the flowers) and then replacement of the irrigation.  It's a lot of work but the  results will be amazing and below is ...
